WHO: 42 health facilities destroyed in floods in three countries

The World Health Organization's (WHO) European regional office announced that following the floods, actions have begun for waste removal, cleaning, land disinfection, and efforts are underway to restore roads and facilities in all three affected countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia.

The epidemiological situation is stable in all three countries, with no outbreaks of any infectious diseases. Data shows that 42 health facilities in the three countries have been damaged or destroyed. Municipalities are trying to re-establish services and utility services.

WHO has sent its emergency support teams to these areas to provide urgent health services. A post-disaster needs assessment (PDNA) is now planned. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, data collection is complete and analysis is underway.

In Serbia, part of the workshop was held yesterday and continues today.

The PDNA will provide an assessment of the damage in the health sector and determine the necessary resources for the rehabilitation of health facilities, NAP reports.
