Weber: Palmer is pursuing private policy for a dirty deal, Schmidt's arrival was not well prepared

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Germany did not approach the appointment of Christian Schmidt as High Representative in BiH prepared, believes political analyst Bodo Weber, who assessed in an interview with N1 that international players dominate in BiH and pursue private policies.

“The Chancellor and Mr. Schmidt embarked on the idea of his candidacy without a clear picture of what is happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially without a clear picture of international players,” Weber said.

This German expert on the Balkans particularly focused on the work of EU representatives on amendments to the BiH Election Law, which has intensified in the past month.

“International players are anti-Western and have completely gotten out of control. Eichhorst and Sattler are completely pursuing their own private policies in relation to their capitals,” Weber believes.

Referring to the engagement of US envoy Matthew Palmer, Weber says he is continuing Trump's policy. The entire project, Weber claims, has turned into a personal project, which no one in, as he states, the State Department opposes.

“Mr. Palmer is pursuing a private policy whose ultimate goal is some dirty deal,” Weber concludes.

Finally, Weber concludes that with the failure of the negotiations regarding the Election Law, the American negotiator Palmer will also leave, and that after that, a stronger policy of the new US administration will emerge.
