(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt had prepared a comprehensive decision before July 11 and the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, which would have allowed him to use the Bonn Powers once again.
In order not to affect the commemoration in any way, everything was postponed until Monday, July 14. He was supposed to announce then that he had imposed the Budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2025. And then the Americans intervened.
As Politicki.ba has learned, the State Department requested that the prepared decision be forwarded to them for analysis. This was allegedly done.
The draft decision was sent to Washington, and now it is being awaited. What exactly the Americans are analyzing is not known.
What is already known to the public is that Schmidt decided to include in the Budget the obligation of permanent financing for six BiH cultural institutions, including the National Museum and the National and University Library, funds for elections, with a special amount for the procurement of scanners for electronic voting, and that BiH must pay Viaduct's debt, and then deduct that money from the RS revenue.
Schmidt, as confirmed for Politicki.ba from multiple sources, had prepared all the details of the decision. The American intervention has now stopped everything.
Although the State Department requested "a few days", it remains unclear whether this is a maneuver to prevent the imposition altogether or a move to change some part of the prepared decision...
