Vukanović: Republika Srpska needs a reserve force, but not foreign secret agents

BANJA LUKA (Patria) - Continuing the fourth regular session of the National Assembly of the entity Republika Srpska, deputies are discussing the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs.

During today's debate on the draft of this law, opposition PDP deputy Jelena Trivić said she has nothing against the creation of a reserve force of the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“I have no doubt whether a reserve force is needed, and I have nothing against its formation. However, the Draft Law does not specify the budget plan for the reserve force,” Trivić stated.

Trivić said she is concerned that this law gives new powers to the police.

SDS deputy Nebojša Vukanović also has no doubts about the reserve force, but said the most interesting part is where it states that other persons will be engaged to work under a secret identity.

“I don’t know of any country that hires foreign nationals to work as secret police,” Vukanović said, proposing the formation of an intervention unit called POSKOK.

During the debate, opposition deputies paid the most attention to police actions during protests in RS, expressing concern that this could happen in the future as well.
