Vukadinović: Komšić cares for the people and the state, while Lagumdžija and Izetbegović make empty promises

Srđan Vukadinović, a sociologist, commented for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP) on the public appearances of leaders from some of the largest political parties in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stated that some of these leaders exhibit elements of statesmanlike behavior, while others largely lack it.

For Vukadinović, SDP president Zlatko Lagumdžija and SDA vice president and Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović are politicians who, in their public appearances, lightly make promises to the people that they later fail to fulfill. Such behavior, he says, is unacceptable and not characteristic of great statesmen.

- Anyone who aspires to such a position should not be prone to excessive emotion, should not be prone to conflict, quick reactions, and should not be prone to making promises that later come to nothing – warns Vukadinović.

- Whoever promises the people but does not fulfill what was promised, treats the people as having a short memory. Those are not true statesmen – this expert believes.

On the other hand, Vukadinović says that Željko Komšić, leader of the Democratic Front, Fahrudin Radončić, president of the SBB, and Dr. Mustafa Cerić, independent candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are closer to what is expected from public appearances of political leaders. They show elements of statesmanlike behavior and attitude.

Speaking about Željko Komšić, Vukadinović believes that as a statesman, he showed great courage through two terms in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Komšić pointed out that social democracy is not what the SDP promotes. Furthermore, this politician, through his appearances, shows that he cares for the state, for the citizens, and is building his position very well for the upcoming elections – explains Vukadinović.

Speaking about the independent candidate Dr. Cerić, he says that he has moved from the sphere of religious engagement into politics, and it is expected that he will show his qualities in this new position.

- His appearances show wisdom and experience, but citizens also expect additional concreteness – he warns. At the same time, this sociologist believes that Fahrudin Radončić, unlike Lagumdžija and Izetbegović, has also shown statesmanlike behavior in his public appearances.

- In the elections two years ago, Radončić offered the people a contract that obligates him to fulfill his promises or leave power. Such an attitude shows that he is a serious politician, that he is aware of his people, and that he is confident he can offer concrete solutions – says Vukadinović for the Patria agency.
