Vujović on the healthcare sector in Sarajevo: The 'Trojka' promised fundamental change, and their directors have done nothing

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Assembly today is reviewing the work and financial operations reports for 13 healthcare institutions in the Canton.

In their questions and discussions, the representatives posed a series of questions to the directors of these institutions or their representatives who presented the reports today.

The representatives were interested in the number of employees, the number of specializations, deficit personnel, the accuracy of analyses, the necessary personnel for microbiological analyses, problems with uniforms at the Sarajevo Canton Health Center, employment in these institutions, public procurement...

Member of the Party of BiH Muamer Bandić commented on the presentation by the director of the Public Institution Sarajevo Canton Health Center, Abel Baltić, regarding the procedures for issuing advertising billboards at this institution.

"There is an order from the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office and the court to seize items to determine if there are elements of a criminal offense. The director said that everything is in accordance with the law, and that there is a group on the Management Board that said it was necessary to seek the Management Board's consent, which is not true," said Bandić.

Representative Vedrana Vujović (DF) began her address with the sentence: "Welcome to the mandate period of the 'Trojka'."

"You have been in power since 2021, and last year we had reports for 2021, and you were washing your hands then, saying it wasn't our mandate period, we took over halfway through the mandate, but for 2022, you have all your directors, management, and after two years, absolutely nothing has been done or improved. Not only has nothing been done, but certain criminal offenses have occurred, and we expect the competent judicial institutions to investigate and sanction those who committed them. It is a disgrace that after the rule of the 'Trojka', we have such a discourse in the media and assembly that it is neither better nor worse than before. You were supposed to be that change, you announced everything would be great from the ground up. Practically nothing has changed, and that is a great disappointment. The general picture of healthcare, starting with the Covid pandemic, the situation in the healthcare sector in the Sarajevo Canton is not satisfactory," said Vujović.
