Vučić at the UN: Resolution on Srebrenica will open old wounds and create complete political chaos

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić addressed the UN General Assembly today, which is currently considering the Draft Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica.

Vučić spoke after the representative of Germany, who, among other things, debunked false narratives, stating that the Resolution is not directed against anyone, not even against Serbia, but against the perpetrators of the genocide in Srebrenica.

Vučić said it was difficult for him to speak after Germany.

- I want to expose the untruths, I paid homage to the victims in Srebrenica - said Vučić and called on the members of the General Assembly to vote against it, because, as he said, it is a "highly politicized Resolution".

He questioned why the Resolution is being adopted "when it concerns individual responsibility, and all those responsible have been convicted." He also asked "why this case is being brought up when we have already adopted a Resolution in 2015."

He asked if this Resolution brings reconciliation, and posed a question to the permanent representative of Germany - "why were you hiding the preparations for this Resolution?".

- Why this Resolution now? I hope that all genocides according to the 2015 Resolution will be condemned, including the genocide committed against the Serbian people. We paid the highest price in World War II - stated Vučić.

He asserted that pressure was exerted on many member states in the days leading up to the UN General Assembly session.

- I ask and demand an answer from the powerful - why did you need to exert such great pressure on UN member states, why did you threaten countries that did not want to vote for the Resolution?

I have dozens of such examples. There is one small country from the Balkans that will vote against this Resolution, because it will open a "Pandora's box", and you will have to respond to dozens of accusations of genocide.

This is not about reconciliation, it is not about memories. This will open old wounds and create complete political chaos - added Vučić.
