HJPC to meet on September 25 and 26: Prosecutors and judges of the Federal USKOK to be appointed, Property Verification Department to be filled

(Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) has scheduled a session for September 25 and 26, where judicial office holders in the Special Departments of the Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH for combating corruption, organized and inter-cantonal crime are finally expected to be appointed.

These appointments were postponed at the last session at the request of the US Embassy and moved to the next session. The work of these departments is planned to begin in December, and the application process for filling the necessary staff for these departments is underway.

Although the agenda has not yet been published on the HJPC website, according to a letter read by the President of the HJPC, Halil Lagumdžija, at the last Council session, the appointments will not be further postponed.

Last week, the Government of the Federation of BiH also approved the rental of premises at Alipašina Street 6 for the needs of this special department.

Special Departments of the Prosecutor's Office and Supreme Court of FBiH to start work in December, lawyers, investigators, psychologist sought

(Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, at the request of the US Embassy, will not appoint judicial office holders in the Special Departments of the Federal Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court of FBiH for combating corruption during the two-day session held on Wednesday and Thursday.

The HJPC is expected to appoint a special deputy chief federal prosecutor of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH, nine prosecutors of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH, and ten judges of the Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH – Special Department of the Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH.

Regarding the integrity checks, i.e., property reports of judicial office holders, with the latest amendments to the Law on HJPC adopted at the July sessions of both houses of the BiH Parliament, the deadline for the establishment and operationalization of the Department for the Implementation of Procedures Based on Reports (Integrity Department) is February 28, 2025.

The selection process for the missing staff and personnel of this department is underway. Funds for the operation of this department are planned in the Budget of BiH Institutions. The competition has been announced for eight positions in the HJPC Secretariat, seeking a Head of the Department for the Implementation of Procedures Based on Reports, Deputy Head, Legal Advisor in the Department for the Implementation of Procedures Based on Reports, Legal Advisor in the Department for Appointments and Promotions, Expert Advisor in the Department for the Implementation of Procedures Based on Reports, and three other positions.

All persons appointed to judicial positions from March 23, 2024, to February 28, 2025, can assume their duties, and an additional check of their property and interest reports will be conducted after the establishment of the Department for the Implementation of Procedures Based on Reports. If the outcome of the additional check is negative, disciplinary proceedings will be initiated in accordance with previously defined rules.
