High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council to elect new President of the Court of BiH

At the session of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, held today in Mostar, a new president of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to be elected, writes the Patria agency.

Judges of BiH Branko Perić, Izo Tankić, Ranko Debevac, Mira Smajlović, and Tihomir Lukes applied for the position of President of the Court of BiH. Additionally, prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office Ismet Šuškić and chief prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office Dalida Burzić applied for the position.

Meddžida Kreso has been heading the Court of BiH for 12 years. Incidentally, the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office confirmed that it has opened a case ex officio based on a media report stating a possible breach of duty.

- We note that Article 71, Paragraph 1 of the Law on the Council stipulates: "All proceedings or actions relating to allegations of breach of duty or inability to perform duties, which are undertaken before the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office files an official indictment, are confidential in nature," therefore we cannot provide further information - the statement reads.
