HJPC to elect Chief Prosecutor: Kajmaković, Tadić or Halilović

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) will elect the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina at today's session. Three candidates remain in the shortlist: Gordana Tadić, Diana Kajmaković, and Munib Halilović. They will present their programs, after which the HJPC members will vote and make a decision on the new prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

Tadić has been the acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office since September 2016, Kajmaković is a prosecutor at the State Prosecutor's Office, and Halilović is a prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH.

Diana Kajmaković – Prosecutor at the BiH Prosecutor's Office

Diana Kajmaković was born in 1966 in Sarajevo. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo in 1990. She began her professional career in 1991 as an intern at the Municipal Court II, where she worked until March of the same year, after which she continued her internship at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo.

After passing the bar exam in 1993, she served as a professional associate at the Municipal Prosecutor's Office II in Sarajevo until 1995, when she began working as a deputy municipal prosecutor at the Municipal Prosecutor's Office II in Sarajevo.

In 2003, she was appointed cantonal prosecutor at the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo, and in May 2008, she was appointed prosecutor at the BiH Prosecutor's Office by decision of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH.

She is an educator at the Center for Education of Judges and Prosecutors of FBiH. She has participated in numerous domestic and international conferences and seminars in the field of combating organized crime and corruption.

She led the case of Zijad Turković and others, characterized as the most significant post-war case against organized crime in BiH. Turković was sentenced to 40 years in prison, and the entire group to a total of 95 years.

During 2009, she participated in a study trip to the USA, aimed at improving the fight against organized crime and corruption in line with best international practices.

Prosecutor Kajmaković was also a member of the Working Group for the Development of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the BiH Strategy for Combating Organized Crime for the period from 2009 to 2012. She also attended specialized training for working in Joint Investigation Teams for Southeast Europe.

Gordana Tadić - Acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office

Since September 29, 2016, Gordana Tadić has been serving as the acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by decision of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She was appointed Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in July 2014, and prior to that, she served as Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton from the beginning of 2012 to the end of 2013. She served as a prosecutor at the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton from 2003 to 2011 in the Department for Economic Crime, Corruption, and Tax Evasion. From 1997 to 2003, she served as deputy municipal prosecutor in Živinice and worked on all types of cases within the jurisdiction of the municipal prosecutor's office. She worked as a professional associate at the Municipal Prosecutor's Office in Živinice from the beginning of 1996 to the beginning of 1997, and from mid-1995 to the end of the same year, she worked as a professional associate at the Municipal Court in Živinice, in the civil litigation department. From August 5, 1985, to mid-1995, she worked as an independent legal clerk performing all types of legal work at the Đurđevik Coal Mine. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo in 1985 and passed the bar exam in 1995.

She was appointed Deputy Head of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Head of Department I on February 19, 2014, and since then she has been heading the Special Department for War Crimes at the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, being appointed Head of the Special Department for War Crimes on August 25, 2014, after being elected Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Munib Halilović – Prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of BiH

Munib Halilović was born on April 12, 1965, in Konjic. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo in 1989.

His first employment was as an inspector for general crime at the Public Security Station Konjic, where he remained until February 1994, when he was appointed deputy chief municipal public prosecutor. He held the position of deputy until June 1, 2000. During 1999 and 2000, he also served as acting chief municipal prosecutor in Konjic.

He was appointed President of the Municipal Court in Konjic in 2000 and held this position until September 2003.

From November 2003 to March 2007, he served as deputy chief district prosecutor in Istočno Sarajevo.

From March 2007 to June 2014, he was a prosecutor at the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and during that period, he served for several years as deputy head of the Department for War Crimes. From June 2014 to the present, he has been working as a federal prosecutor at the Federal Prosecutor's Office of FBiH.

He works as an educator for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and other professional staff regarding the application of substantive and procedural criminal legislation.
