Archbishop of Vrhbosna Vukšić congratulates Ramadan Bayram to Reis-ul-Ulema Kavazović and Muslims in BiH

(Patria) - Mons. Tomo Vukšić, Archbishop of Vrhbosna and Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate, sent a congratulatory message to Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazović on the occasion of Ramadan Bayram.

"On the occasion of the holiday of Ramadan Bayram, on my own behalf and on behalf of other Catholic believers, I greet you and all believers of the Islamic Community in BiH with respect and joy, and I wish that the Merciful Lord pours out an abundance of His blessing upon all of you. It should be noted that this year, Muslims and Christians, Catholics and Orthodox, are preparing for their great holidays at the same time through fasting. It is important to notice this sign because fasting is a spiritual school of inner transformation of man," emphasized Mons. Vukšić.

He added that this time of fasting, prayer and sharing is a privileged opportunity to draw closer to God and to renew the fundamental values of faith, compassion and solidarity.

"This closeness in the spiritual calendar offers us a unique opportunity to walk side by side, Christians and Muslims, in a common process of purification, prayer and mercy. We do not simply want to live next to each other, but we want to live together in sincere and mutual respect. The values we share, such as justice, compassion and respect for the created world, should inspire our actions and relationships and serve as a compass for us to be builders of bridges instead of walls, advocates of justice instead of oppression, those who protect the environment, not those who destroy it.

Our faith and its values should help us to be voices that rise strongly against injustice and indifference and proclaim the beauty of human diversity," said the Archbishop of Vrhbosna.

He also sent congratulations to Military Mufti Nesib ef. Hadžić, Sarajevo Mufti Nedžad ef. Grabus, and to member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović, Minister of Defence Zukan Helez and General Mirsad Ahmić, the Archdiocese of Vrhbosna announced.
