Nedim Sladić's Weather Forecast: Half the Week Marked by Rain and Showers, Windy from Tuesday

Monday, 5 September: Moderate to fully cloudy in the west, north and northwest, partly clear in the east, central part of the country and Herzegovina, with gradual clouding over by midday. A strong disturbance associated with a cyclone from northeastern Europe will bring rain, local showers and thunderstorms to the western, northwestern and northern areas in the first part of the day, with precipitation and cooling spreading to the northeast, east and southeast of our country by midday, and to Herzegovina in the afternoon. 

In the central, southern and northeastern parts of the country, the possibility of a stronger thunderstorm accompanied by hail, strong electrical discharges, variable wind and rain is not ruled out locally. Expected precipitation amounts will range from 9 to 36 litres of rain per square metre. 

Wind initially mostly light, in Krajina already from morning moderate and strong, occasionally gusty and stormy east and northeast wind, in the rest of the country light southwest wind. By midday in Bosnia, the wind turning to a temporarily strong east and northeast wind, and in the evening in Herzegovina a moderate and strong, occasionally stormy bora is expected. 

Morning temperatures from 10 to 15 in Krajina, in the north and northwest, in the rest of the country from 16 to 23 degrees. Highest daily temperatures from 15 to 19 degrees in Krajina, in the north and northwest of our country, in the rest of the country from 25 to 31 degrees. After 4 p.m., temperatures 8 to 15 degrees lower compared to the highest measured values of the day.

Tuesday, 6 September: As the cyclone moves southeastward from our region and a high-pressure field strengthens in the north, the precipitation situation will partially calm down.

Fully cloudy weather will prevail. Brief rain or weak showers are expected in the eastern, central and southeastern part of the country, while it could be completely dry in the north, northwest and west. Wind, mostly moderate, easterly, and in Herzegovina a strong bora. Morning temperatures from 8 to 14°C, in Herzegovina from 15 to 22°C. Highest daily temperatures from 17 to 22°C, in Herzegovina from 22 to 27°C.  

Wednesday, 7 September: Fully cloudy, however only in the central and eastern part of the country a passing brief shower of rain is expected. Partial clearing from the north by the end of the day. Wind, strong and very strong, occasionally with stormy gusts, east and northeast, weakening in the evening. Morning temperatures from 9 to 14 degrees, in Herzegovina from 14 to 18 degrees. Highest daily temperatures from 17 to 22 degrees, in Herzegovina from 22 to 27 degrees.

Thursday, 8 September: Clearing from the north will spread towards the central part of the country by the end of the day. In Krajina and Herzegovina, mostly sunny for most of the day, in the central and eastern part of the country fully cloudy and mostly dry. Wind, light, easterly. Morning temperatures from 6 to 13, in the south from 14 to 18 degrees. Highest daily temperatures from 18 to 24 degrees, in Herzegovina from 23 to 29 degrees.

Friday, 9 September: Mostly sunny. Wind, light, east and northeast. Morning and daily temperature values rising by about 2 to 3 degrees.

 

   SYNOPTICS

Windy weather from Tuesday to Thursday  

The advection of a warm air mass in a weak southwesterly flow during most of Sunday was interrupted in the morning hours of Monday. The disturbance of the southern flow will be replaced by a very strong northeasterly flow by midday. The cyclone from northeastern Europe will affect the northern half of the country in the morning hours, and the southern half by the end of the day. Deepening, i.e., strengthening of the cyclone in the Adriatic around Wednesday, when the east and northeast wind will suddenly strengthen, the cyclone will move away towards the Ionian Sea, and from northwestern Europe a high-pressure field will establish itself, causing a strong pressure gradient and very windy weather from Tuesday to Thursday.
