Vrelo Bosne needs a little more care from authorities: Dilapidated wooden structures, neglected fence, inadequate waste bins

The protected natural area of Vrelo Bosne in Sarajevo Canton looks like anything but protected and cared for.

The Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas, headed by Asad Jelešković (NIP), has allowed Vrelo Bosne to appear neglected and unsightly, and the criticisms leveled by citizens are entirely justified.

Otherwise, the entrance fee for domestic guests is 3 KM, and for foreign citizens, it is 6 KM. For pensioners and children, it is 2 KM. The price list was changed in October 2023.

The metal fence of the Vrelo Bosne complex is neglected, and it is questionable when it was last painted.

The wooden structures around the water areas are crooked, dilapidated, and cracked.

The wooden bridges have also seen better days, and the waste bins have no bags, with trash ending up on the grass.

Considering that it was the winter period and that snow (which there wasn't much of) and rain do their part, and that wood is susceptible to changes, this public institution still has no excuse not to make an effort and tidy up this popular picnic spot and oasis of peace.

Tables that look like a flea market have been placed right next to Vrelo Bosne. This is not the image anyone wants to see when visiting a "protected natural area." Vrelo Bosne, as well as its visitors, deserve for the authorities to put in a little more effort.

For example, the Stojčevac locality was neglected for years, and the Municipality of Ilidža, led by Mayor Nermin Muzur, has completely revitalized this area, which now has more visitors than Vrelo Bosne. The extent to which Stojčevac has been renovated is also shown by the race that the Municipality of Ilidža is organizing again this year in this area, with over 500 runners participating.

If Director Jelešković does not know how to organize work and tidy up Vrelo Bosne, he can certainly ask Mayor Muzur for advice, and he will gladly help him.

With the support of the Municipality of Ilidža, the reconstruction of the dilapidated lighting at Vrelo Bosne began at the beginning of this month.
