Vranj: The system failed, and Lukač should have reacted earlier!

The entire security apparatus failed when the BiH Presidency building was attacked and the flag was burned, and the Director of the Federal Police Administration Dragan Lukač should have reacted earlier in accordance with his official duties, stated Edin Vranj, dismissed head of the criminal police sector of the FUP, tonight on FACE TV's Dnevnik, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). 

Vranj spoke for the first time with Senad Hadžifejzović about his dismissal, which, as stated in the media, came after confidential documents about the formation of the FUP crisis headquarters prior to the riots were published. He categorically denied giving the mentioned documents to the Minister of Security of BiH Fahrudin Radončić, stating that they should have reached him through official channels if things were as they should be, and that there was nothing special in them.

- I did not give the documents to Radončić, I have never spoken with him in my life. I gave them to my colleague from the FUP, Rasim Hadžić, at his request and warned him not to copy them. Lukač was receiving journalists for interviews during those days. And let Radončić explain how those documents ended up in "Avaz" – Vranj said. According to him, there has long been a conflict between him and Lukač, or rather dissatisfaction with their cooperation. Vranj then asserted that the entire system failed during the demonstrations due to a lack of cooperation. As NAP unofficially learns, Vranj's statements are completely accurate, which is confirmed by information that Lukač watched the burning of the KS Government and Presidency buildings on television for a long time, in the company of state prosecutor Dubravko Čampara! Only when the situation got out of control and when he received a call from a higher level did Lukač react, as we learn.

- The security system did not act in coordination; Lukač should have reacted earlier when the BiH Presidency building was attacked. If I had been in his place, I would have reacted earlier. Such an event requires ordinary citizens to react, let alone the police – Vranj stated, among other things. He determined that it is evident that leading officials of law enforcement agencies are "at war with each other" and that they are somehow privatizing them. Vranj advocated for the formation of an independent commission to determine who failed in this case. The dismissed chief operative of the Federal Police Administration stated quite openly, based on his knowledge, that "most politicians steal" and said that the FUP has filed a number of reports for million-dollar crime, including against politicians.

- Prosecutions are a separate story. They manage and supervise investigations, and there are those who have devalued months of police work and who are under political influence and are corrupt. Exceptions aside – said Vranj. When asked if he expects Lukač to withdraw the decision on his dismissal, Vranj said that he does not believe he will want to, but also that he "will not have the opportunity to do so," without elaborating. He briefly assessed the investigation against him for war crimes conducted by SIPA as a simple fabrication, stating that he is proud that he respected the Geneva Conventions even during the war.
