Vranić answered deputies: Only one vaccine was wasted from the start of vaccination

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Health of KS Haris Vranić said that inspection supervision will have to be strengthened after the easing of measures and relaxation of citizens. 

Deputies asked Minister Vranić numerous questions to which he provided answers. 

He spoke about unrecorded citizens who are not in the system as having received the vaccine, of which there are more than 1,200.

"There may be even more unrecorded ones because the vaccination of healthcare workers was not entered into the system when it happened. This is a question for them as to why they did not enter vaccinated citizens into the system. When we started vaccination, we manually entered every vaccine and each batch had a protocol. Now everything done at the Zetra is done manually because the Medita system has failed," said Vranić. 

He added that the payment of funds for the reimbursement of funds for the drugs Tocilizumab and Remdesivir has begun.

When asked why the Emergency Medical Service did not receive bonuses, Vranić said they did not have a Covid department established.

"They did work with covid patients, they had infected and unfortunately deceased patients. We said that we would give bonuses only to those public health institutions that have covid departments. These are the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (KCUS) and the General Hospital, and Health Centers."

After his proposal for members of the Government to get vaccinated, only one minister agreed, others did not, said Vranić. 

"I am vaccinated and I fall into the category of healthcare worker-doctor," said Vranić.

Citizens of KS who were vaccinated outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina have not yet registered in the application. So far, 2,700 citizens have registered. 

"I have no information that any vaccine was unused. When the vaccination was ending, those doses that remained unused were given to those who were waiting in front of Zetra, even though they were not called. Only one dose was wasted, that is the official report," said Vranić. 

Vranić reiterated that the Medita information system is not functioning well.

"Errors occur very often. I receive dozens of emails that I forward to the Institute. I have made over 100 interventions to get people entered into the system. The Health Insurance Fund of KS (ZZO KS) holds all data about our insured persons. The Coordination Team for Vaccination clearly stated who ZZO KS will call. Medita called categories that were not foreseen. There were many people who were called and who were not in the 75+ category but younger and were duly called. I don't believe it was intentional, but a system error. I pointed out these errors, but they obviously cannot fix these shortcomings," said Vranić.

The minister reiterated that patients will know which vaccine they will receive at the moment they arrive at Zetra.  

Prime Minister of KS Edin Forto supplemented Vranić's answers by stating that 38,000 people have been vaccinated at Zetra, of which 3,000 are second doses.

"The decision at the very beginning was that we would reward all workers in Covid departments and the Emergency Medical Service, which is why they were not included. Institutions have submitted lists to us, and I ask you to support the process of rewarding workers in Covid departments. We are not trying to diminish the value of all other workers. The Government will consider further rewarding workers in accordance with its capabilities," said Forto.
