34 RETURNED: 41 cars stolen in Sarajevo in the first six months of 2020

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the Sarajevo Canton area, 41 cars were stolen in the first six months of this year. According to the report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sarajevo Canton Police Administration, 34 vehicles were found.

The Police Administration returned 19 vehicles, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska returned two, other Ministries of Internal Affairs returned one, and the owners themselves found 12 vehicles. 

Comparing the data with last year, the number of stolen cars has decreased. In the same period in 2019, 101 vehicles were stolen. 

Besides the decrease in the number of stolen cars after the murder of police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović on October 26, 2018, in Alipašino Polje, for which members of car theft rings are suspected, there are other reasons for the reduction in the number of thefts.

Car thieves are finding it increasingly difficult to steal newer cars due to the security systems they have, while cars they could steal or that were targets in previous years are already 'old and unprofitable' to steal.
