Truck driver with Srebrenica victims: This is the heaviest load I have ever driven

A truck carrying 175 victims killed in Srebrenica, who will be buried in Potočari on July 11, stopped in Sarajevo for only a few moments so that Sarajevans could pay tribute to the innocent victims, writes BH news agency Patria. But that was enough to bring life in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to a standstill for a moment.

It was not easy for anyone who looked at the truck with the identified victims today. The truck driver, Sead Čengić, was also silent. He never imagined he would drive a truck carrying 175 coffins. And those of his fellow countrymen. As the crowd pushed towards the truck to adorn it with at least a flower, Sead stood in front of the truck, staring at the road. In more than 35 years behind the wheel, he says, he has never driven a heavier load.

If he had known it would be this hard, he would have rather stayed at home. His thoughts are interrupted by Amor Mašović.

- Master, when we start, make sure everyone has moved away from the truck – Mašović tells him.

- Well, it's more because of these mothers. My heart breaks when I see them looking at the coffins of their children, says Čengić. With this, he revealed that he was deeply in thought with the victims. He is a Sarajevan, he was nowhere near Srebrenica during the genocide, but today, he says, he equally sympathizes with both the victims and their families – writes Patria.
