Von der Leyen, Plenković and Rutte with BiH officials on the European path and BiH's obligations

(Patria) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. The first official meeting will be held on Tuesday morning with the members of the Presidency of BiH. Plenković had dinner on Monday evening with the president of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović and a delegation from that party.

After the Presidency of BiH, a meeting will be held at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto, her deputies, and the collegia of both houses of the PA BiH.

The visit aims to encourage the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to seize this opportunity and intensify efforts to achieve the necessary progress on the 14 key priorities from the European Commission's Opinion by March 2024. In addition, the visit will be an opportunity to discuss the possibilities offered by the European Commission's Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

A press conference will be held after the meeting.

Since the last visit of the EC President, BiH has not adopted any reform laws, and the Council of Ministers of BiH has adopted the Bill on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, which has not yet been considered by the PA BiH.
