Volunteers Plant 2,000 Saplings in Željezno Polje to Mitigate Potential Landslides

More than 70 volunteers planted 2,000 saplings in Željezno Polje at locations affected by landslides in May this year, reports the Patria agency.

The action was organized as part of the national campaign „Let's Do It – Million Saplings for 1 Day“, and was organized by the Local Community of Željezno Polje and the Citizens' Association „Ruke“ from Sarajevo.

The volunteers successfully planted 2,000 saplings of spruce, white pine, and ash.

Željezno Polje was hit by devastating landslides several times this year, the largest of which occurred in May, when hundreds of families had to leave their homes, and some have not returned to this day.

Experts note that planting trees in areas affected by landslides or at risk of landslides will greatly contribute to stabilizing these land plots, reports NAP.
