Soldiers must know cloud types and the name of an epitaph!

The BiH Ministry of Defence has issued a public call for the recruitment of soldiers into professional service in the Armed Forces of BiH. 28 soldiers are needed from the Bosniak people, 91 from the Serb people, 16 from the Croat people, and 1 from the Others category. According to the call, secondary vocational education (SSS) of level III and IV is required, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

On the website of the BiH Ministry of Defence, candidates have instructions and tests they must pass. They will take a general knowledge test for admission to military service in the Armed Forces of BiH in the soldier category and a physical fitness test.

What is interesting is that the general knowledge test consists of 350 questions, covering more than ten areas: state organisation, judiciary, mathematics, literature and grammar, geography, history, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, medicine, informatics, sociology, as well as questions related to the functioning of the Armed Forces of BiH.

One of the questions candidates must answer is:

- The attack of one or more countries on other countries, with the aim of seizing their territory and forcibly subjugating the population to a foreign country, is called: progression, aggression, digression.

Candidates also need to know the highest rank in the navy: captain, admiral, general.

Twenty-one questions are identical to questions from the driving test, although the call does not specify passing the driving test as a requirement for all positions.

Candidates who undertake the general knowledge test must answer 44 questions from literature and grammar. One of them reads:

- A type of literature that is written in free style and does not follow the principles of meter, rhyme, and other rules of poetry is called: comedy, prose, autobiography – as stated in the tests.

Candidates will also have 77 questions from geography, and they need to know what 'cumulus' and 'cirrus' clouds are. One of the last questions reads:

- An inscription on a grave, in verse or prose, is: farewell verse, lament, epitaph – which can be seen on the website of the BiH Ministry of Defence.

BiH Ministry of Defence spokesperson Uma Sinanović confirmed to Patria that all candidates take the 350-question test, regardless of the position they applied for.
