Sarajevo Authorities Collected 2 Million KM from Drivers, Then Banned Their Vehicles from Traffic

Sarajevo Canton authorities, in just one year, collected about 2 million KM from citizens for the registration of about 40,000 of their vehicles, and then banned the use of these cars. This has caused outrage among drivers, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Due to the excessive concentration of smog in the air, the KS Government banned traffic for vehicles older than 15 years, or those that do not meet the Euro 3 standard. According to statistical data, there are about 40,000 such vehicles in the KS area.

Patria's interlocutors, traffic experts, ask why such vehicles were not removed from traffic during technical inspections? Why did the authorities wait to take money from the owners before banning their vehicles from traffic?

Patria has confirmed at several technical inspection stations in Sarajevo that they do not exclude vehicles from traffic due to so-called eco-tests, and they received such an oral order from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Communications.
