Bingo Owner: As long as we are here, there will be no monopoly

There will be no monopoly as long as we are in the market. We are continuing to expand our network of facilities, said Senad Džambić, owner of the largest retail chain "Bingo" Tuzla.

To recall, the Competition Council of BiH gave the green light for the sale of Mercator to the Croatian company Agrokor. The Council made the decision on 10.6.2014, during its 92nd session.

- The concentration of the economic entity Agrokor d.d. and the economic entity Poslovni sistem Mercator d.d. is considered permissible - states the Competition Council of BiH.

The Competition Council, as they state, received on June 28, 2013, the Application for Concentration of the economic entity Agrokor d.d. Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, "which intends to gain control over the economic entity Poslovni sistem Mercator d.d. Ljubljana, by purchasing 53.12% of shares."

The purchase of Mercator, which also owns the retail chain "DP Marketi" in BiH, is the largest retail transaction in the region, and many have expressed fears that Agrokor owner Ivica Todorić will thereby gain a monopoly on the entire market, given that he already owns the "Konzum" retail chain, NAP reports.

Džambić told Patria that this is "not any kind of monopolization, nor can it be as long as there are domestic retail chains".

- We have several of them, and it will remain that way - said Džambić.
