ZDK Healthcare receives 5.5 million KM, sports an additional 2.2 million KM

(Patria) - The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) at today's session made several decisions approving significant funds for healthcare, sports, and economic development.

ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić emphasized that a total of 5.5 million KM has been allocated for the needs of the Ministry of Health, of which 500,000 KM is intended for the maintenance of medical equipment at the Cantonal Hospital Zenica.

Five million KM has been approved for co-financing the costs of education for doctors of medicine and dentistry in specialization, as well as resident doctors in 2026.

- This year again, we made a decision to allocate funds for the Cantonal Hospital Zenica to co-finance the costs of education for doctors of medicine and dentistry in specialization and resident doctors.

This confirms that we are committed to having our own quality staff who will remain in Zenica-Doboj Canton and serve our citizens - said Pivić.

He added that the ZDK Government today also made a decision on the distribution of an additional 2,210,400 KM for sports, through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport.

- In addition to the three million KM that we allocated for clubs of special interest to Zenica-Doboj Canton at previous sessions, today we are already witnessing concrete results of investment in sports.

Certain clubs are on the verge of entering higher competition ranks, and an improvement in the overall state of sports in ZDK is also evident - said Pivić.

Relevant Minister Mirza Mušija emphasized that total allocations for sports this year will amount to around six million KM and that the funds have significantly contributed to the stabilization of sports collectives that were facing financial difficulties.

- Today, we allocated 2,210,400 KM for competition registration fees for clubs, regular activities of sports collectives, support for clubs of persons with disabilities, school sports competitions, sports federations, as well as for the support of promising and successful athletes - said Mušija.

He also announced a new public call that will enable support for sports collectives that did not meet the conditions within the previous public call.

Within the Ministry of Economy, a decision was also made on additional financing of the Regional Development Agency for the Central Bosnia region.

- We have initiated very significant processes, such as IT HUBs, which are of particular interest to young entrepreneurs and people coming from abroad.

We are also recording certain progress in that direction, which confirms that we are following current trends and digital challenges that lie ahead of us - stated Prime Minister Pivić.

At today's session, the ZDK Government approved funds for the third phase of the construction of the memorial monument at Velika Mahnjača in Željezo Polje, the construction of which has been pending for over 30 years.
