Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton Provides Maximum Support to the Institute for Occupational and Sports Medicine

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the Minister of Health, Aida Salčinović, held a meeting today with representatives of the Trade Union of the Institute for Occupational and Sports Medicine of Zenica-Doboj Canton, led by president Sedina Omeragić. The meeting was also attended by the president of the Independent Professional Trade Union of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of ZDK, Elvis Cikotić.

The current situation at the Institute was discussed, with a particular emphasis on long-term financial problems, which are the result of poor management of this institution.

Therefore, the focus of the discussion was on modalities of business reorganization, analysis of cost structure, and planning of next steps with the aim of strengthening this institution.

"The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton fulfills all its obligations towards the Institute, including the procurement of medical equipment as a form of support for its work. The Government's intention is to continue providing support in every sense, in order to consolidate the Institute's operations and create conditions for its self-sustainability," said Prime Minister Pivić.

Trade union president Sedina Omeragić stated that they are satisfied with the outcome of today's meeting.

"I am pleased with the messages from the meeting and that the Prime Minister and the Government are seeking a long-term solution for our institution. We agree that the Institute should remain as an organizational unit, and that employees should retain their status as permanently employed," said Omeragić.

All parties agreed that there is a common interest in resolving the accumulated problems, and that continuous communication is necessary – both between the trade union and the founder, and between the trade union and the institution's management.
