Government seeks to shorten deadline for registering workers for mandatory insurance from 15 to five days

The Government of the Federation of BiH adopted on Friday the Proposal for a Law on Amendments to the Labor Law and forwarded it to the parliamentary procedure under an expedited procedure.

The new legal solutions, according to the Government, will enable the Labor Law to be better applied to the business environment of the FBiH and provide fairer and more efficient protection of workers' rights, facilitate and accelerate the collective bargaining process, and prevent potential abuses.

With the new law, the Government seeks to shorten the deadline within which an employer must register a worker for mandatory insurance from 15 to five days.

A new provision is also that the salary for work performed and time spent at work consists of a base salary, a part of the salary for work performance if achieved, and an increased salary, with work performance defined by the employer in accordance with general regulations, a collective agreement, or work rules.

The Government also requests that the lowest salary be determined by the Government of the FBiH after consultations with the Economic and Social Council, NAP writes.
