German Government: No changes to borders in the Western Balkans

BERLIN, (Patria) - The German government has not changed its stance on the immutability of borders in the Western Balkans, which Chancellor Angela Merkel publicly stated on August 13, speaking about territorial delimitations, a stance she reiterated in a recent conversation with US President Donald Trump - the German government told the Podgorica newspaper Pobjeda.

- Chancellor Merkel reiterated that the territorial integrity of the Western Balkan states is established and inviolable. This remains the position of the Federal Government. The Federal Government strongly supports the EU's efforts to mediate sustainable solutions between Serbia and Kosovo - emphasized the German government.

As they emphasized, accession negotiations between Montenegro and the EU have already progressed well, however, the position of the Federal Government of Germany remains unchanged - candidates must meet all conditions before joining the EU.

- The overall progress of accession negotiations will be particularly determined by progress in the area of the rule of law - said the office of Chancellor Merkel.
