Government is not providing aid to Željeznice FBiH, it is legally obliged to allocate funds for the company's maintenance

Regarding the article published on the portal of the BH News Agency Patria, which states that "FBiH authorities will withdraw much more money in 2016 through the multi-million loss-making Željeznice FBiH because the SDA, HDZ, SBB coalition has allocated 20 million KM of taxpayer money for them this year as business aid," we wish to inform the public that the Government of FBiH is not providing any aid to Željeznice FBiH, but rather, according to the "Law on Financing Railway Infrastructure and Co-financing of Passenger and Combined Transport" ("Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH" no. 57/03), it is obliged to allocate funds annually for the maintenance of the company it owns and founded, it was announced from Željeznice FBiH.

The statement from this company further states that the Government of FBiH fulfills this obligation annually with only 31% of the actually accepted costs of railway infrastructure, realized through executed works, and that the losses of Željeznice FBiH on an annual level are proportional to the debts of the Government of FBiH, due to the non-fulfillment of its legally established obligations towards this Public Company.
