Government of Sarajevo Canton adopts Draft Budget of 1.53 billion KM and forwards it to the Cantonal Assembly

(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton at last night's session adopted the Draft Budget of Sarajevo Canton for 2024 in the amount of 1.53 billion KM and forwarded it to the parliamentary procedure.

The proposal encompassed all legal obligations of Sarajevo Canton, which include regular monthly allocations for maternity benefits and other social welfare beneficiaries, as well as compensations based on the rights of the veteran population and other legal entitlements.

Funds have been planned for strengthening public transport and communal economy, improving cleanliness in public urban areas, as well as funds for building up commodity reserves.

For the first time, funds from the Sarajevo Canton Budget have been allocated for co-financing extended stays in primary schools. Significant funds have been set aside for school reconstructions, purchase of textbooks, and financing of the Student Dormitory.

Within capital investments, the procurement of new trams continues, aimed at improving public urban transport and equipping it with environmentally friendly vehicles.

Also planned is the procurement of new equipment for members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, as well as the training of 250 new cadets.

Among other things, funds have been planned for the purchase of new sophisticated devices for public health institutions, as well as financing the procurement of aids for war military invalids, and a position has been planned for strengthening preventive health care programs for citizens.

For capital projects in the field of culture, 16 million KM has been planned.

Compared to the Draft, the Budget Proposal increases transfers for small businesses and agriculture, and provides funds for subsidizing airline routes.

In line with the Government's commitment to maintain and improve the personnel structure in education, police, social welfare sectors, culture and sports, and public administration, additional funds for employee salaries in the amount of 23 million KM have been planned, in accordance with collective agreements and agreements with trade union organizations.

Along with the Budget Proposal, the Draft Law on Budget Execution has also been adopted.
