KS Government Calls for Solidarity: Saving Lives Together Through Blood Donation Drive

(Patria) - As part of supporting humanitarian activities, a voluntary blood donation drive was held in the Sarajevo Canton building, organized by the KS Ministry of Health. Through this act of solidarity, employees contributed to ensuring the basic prerequisite for the normal functioning of the healthcare system, as no planned operation or therapy can commence without secured blood supplies. In addition to a large number of employees, members of the KS Assembly and Government also joined the drive.

„Blood donation is the most direct act of help. Given that only a few minutes of our time and one donation can save up to three lives, this is the most concrete possible contribution to the community. Through our joint effort, this drive becomes significant support for the healthcare system, and I hope it will become a tradition we will proudly cherish,“ emphasized the KS Prime Minister Nihad Uk, thanking all participants of the drive, as well as the Transfusion Institute for their professional support and organization.

Blood is an irreplaceable life resource essential in numerous medical situations, from emergency interventions in severe accidents and surgeries to the treatment of malignant diseases such as leukemia and anemia. One unit of blood can be divided into red blood cells, platelets, and plasma, which are used to help various patients.

„Blood donation is one of the noblest acts by which an individual can help the community. As a regular blood donor, I am particularly proud that a voluntary blood donation drive was organized in the Sarajevo Canton building and that ministers, government employees, our services, and ministries have shown humanity and solidarity in action through their response. I am convinced that by our own example, we can encourage others to do the same and together be bearers of positive change and social responsibility,“ stated the KS Minister of Health Enis Hasanović.

The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton continuously supports such activities and will continue to work on raising awareness about the importance of regular blood donation, as every unit can mean a saved life.

Due to its vital role in the healthcare system, blood donation also represents social responsibility. The Government of Sarajevo Canton calls on all citizens to follow this example and contact the Transfusion Institute to become regular blood donors.
