Government of Sarajevo Canton establishes Film Foundation

(Patria) - At the proposal of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Government of Sarajevo Canton (SC) adopted a Draft Decision on establishing the SC Film Foundation and forwarded it to the parliamentary procedure, thereby taking a key step in strengthening systemic support for film art.

Minister of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton Kenan Magoda said that today's decision is the result of a clear vision and concrete steps taken to ensure a stable and sustainable institutional framework for the film industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Much has been said and speculated, but as of today there are no more dilemmas, the given promise has been fulfilled. From the very beginning, I emphasized that Bosnian-Herzegovinian film deserves systemic and transparent support, and the establishment of the Foundation enables precisely that.

Sarajevo is not just a city of film - Sarajevo is a city where film is lived. From the Sarajevo Film Festival, which is internationally recognized, to hundreds of talented young authors, this city has a rich film tradition and enormous potential.

What was missing until now was stable institutional support. Today, that gap has finally been filled - emphasized Minister Magoda.

He added that he is particularly pleased that the public recognizes the consistency and concreteness of his actions.

- I am glad that I am recognized as a politician who does not make empty promises. Everything I said has been fulfilled. This is yet another proof that responsible and dedicated politics can bring real and tangible results - said the minister.

He expressed confidence that the Film Foundation will receive full support from the representatives in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton.

- Culture must not be a space of divisions, it is the foundation of unity and an investment in the future. This is a victory for culture and a victory for domestic film and for all those who believe that Sarajevo can and must be the capital of cinematography in this part of Europe - Magoda concluded.
