KS Government Approves Hiring of 200 More Police Officers in Sarajevo Canton MUP

(Patria) - At the initiative of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Admir Katica, the Government of Sarajevo Canton today adopted a Decision giving consent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton - Police Administration, to conduct the procedure for announcing a Public Competition for filling vacant positions and hiring police officers in the rank of "police officer" for 200 positions.

For the successful functioning of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton, a professional, trained, and efficient police force is necessary, which, in addition to material resources, also has quality and trained human resources. Minister Katica reminded that 195 new police officers were hired last year, and that the hiring of another 250 police officers and 30 junior inspectors is currently underway. Individuals selected for hiring must undergo basic cadet training lasting seven months for the rank of "police officer", so these 250 police officers should be in the ranks of the Sarajevo Canton MUP during 2024. Concurrently, a public competition will be announced and a procedure will be carried out for hiring another 200 police officers.

"The Government of Sarajevo Canton has shown understanding and support for the MUP of Sarajevo Canton in its efforts to strengthen the police and ensure an even better security environment for our citizens. I am pleased that the Government is following our vision and goals, as this way we will get a younger, educated, and trained police staff and significantly "renew the blood count" of the Sarajevo Canton MUP - Police Administration," stated Minister Katica.

As Minister Katica has stated on several occasions, the MUP of Sarajevo Canton has maximally improved and made the hiring process transparent, from applying for the public competition, through general and physical fitness testing, to the training itself and the start of work. The website of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton contains topics, areas, and questions from which candidates take exams, and the exam process itself is conducted under codes and video surveillance, which excludes any possibility of human factor influence.
