KS Government on "Envelope" Operation: We Appeal to the Public and Media to Respect the Presumption of Innocence Until a Final Court Decision is Made

(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton supports all actions of judicial and investigative bodies, including this morning's actions at the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, it was announced a few hours after this morning's operation in which the Minister of Higher Education Adna Mesihović and her assistant Dženita Viteškić were arrested.

"As the highest executive body of Sarajevo Canton, we confirm our full respect for the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. We believe that the competent authorities will conduct the investigation in accordance with legal procedures and principles of justice.

The Government of Sarajevo Canton remains committed to transparency, the rule of law, and the protection of public interest.
We appeal to the public and the media to respect the presumption of innocence until a final court decision is made. The KS Government will continue to perform its duties for the benefit of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton," the KS Government's statement reads.

Otherwise, in November 2024, the Minister of Communal Economy Bojan Bošnjak was arrested and spent almost three months in custody. He was dismissed at a session on March 14, and a new candidate to be nominated by the People and Justice party has not yet been proposed for that position.
