KS Government: No need to suspend classes or ban public gatherings

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Government considered at today's session the Information on the activities of the Crisis Staff of the KS Ministry of Health for monitoring and analyzing the situation caused by the Coronavirus. After a detailed analysis of all activities and the situation on the ground, as well as hygiene-epidemiological reports from competent services, it was emphasized that there is currently no need to introduce special public health measures in Sarajevo Canton, such as suspending classes in schools, banning public gatherings, and the like.

"The Crisis Staff acts according to the established Preparedness Plan, which clearly defines the steps of all competent actors in accordance with the epidemiological situation in Sarajevo Canton. All measures and activities recommended by the World Health Organization and other relevant institutions are being undertaken. This applies to all preventive and precautionary measures aimed at protecting the health of the population from infectious diseases," emphasized the Minister of Health Amela Sofić.

The KS Government, at this session, tasked the Crisis Staff to expand its composition with members from the KS Press Service and the KS Directorate for Commodity Reserves, in order to inform the public in a timely manner and act in accordance with the needs of the competent institutions involved in this issue.

"A maximum of responsibility, cooperation, and unity is needed for an adequate response to the appearance of the Coronavirus in our country, not only from health institutions and organizations, but also from other public institutions at all levels of government, the media, and every citizen individually," it was emphasized.
