KS Government Announces Possibility of Connecting Water from Kijevo Spring to Water Supply System

The Government of Sarajevo Canton held another continuation of its 90th extraordinary session today, dedicated to the problem of water supply in Sarajevo, at which the Ministry of Communal Economy and Infrastructure and KJKP „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ were asked to prepare an analysis of individual, joint, and average invoiced water consumption per family household member in Sarajevo Canton and compare it with water consumption in the region, it was announced from the KS Government, reports Patria News Agency.

The Minister of Communal Economy and Infrastructure, Senad Hasanspahić, informed the Government members about the talks held between the mayors of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo and the directors of the companies „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ from Sarajevo and East Sarajevo regarding the possibilities of using the Kijevo spring, with a capacity of 300 liters of water per second, which could be connected to the existing water supply network of Sarajevo Canton in the coming period.

Minister Hasanspahić emphasized that securing additional quantities of water in the existing water supply system is also necessary due to the fact that at the time it was built, it was planned to supply 80,000 to a maximum of 100,000 users, while today about 173,000 registered users use water from the existing network.
