KS Government to Tackle Illegal Water Consumers and Non-payers

The Sarajevo Canton Government will form and deploy a working group this week with representatives from the Government, the Ministry of Communal Economy, and KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija“, whose task will be to register and remove illegal connections to the water supply network, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The problem of illegal connections is no less significant than the loss of water quantities in the distribution water supply network, which prevents the citizens of Sarajevo from having a regular supply of drinking water.

The Sarajevo Canton Government has received the requested information from KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija" regarding the number of water connections and the quantities of water consumed by 96 car washes, 350 catering establishments, and 120 guesthouses and hotels in the Sarajevo Canton area.

The presented data, showing that some car washes consume 1 to 5 cubic meters of water per month, and that some hotels and guesthouses report their monthly consumption as the consumption of water in an average apartment, clearly indicate illegal water usage. Illegal connections and unpaid water consumption must be removed, according to the stance from today's Government session, whose team will be checking locations with "suspicious" consumption starting next week.
