KS Government and OSCE: Register of Public Sector Employees in KS Available to the Public from Today

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The register of public sector employees in the Sarajevo Canton area is available to the wider public from today, giving them insight into the names, job positions, and salaries of all employees in cantonal administrative bodies, institutions, and companies.

The register was officially presented today at a press conference organized by the Sarajevo Canton Government's Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Control and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the KS Press Service announced.

As highlighted by Erduan Kafedžić, Director of the Office for Combating Corruption and the project's implementation lead, this is another in a series of public registers aimed at contributing to the maximum transparency of public sector operations as a prerequisite for preventing all forms of corruption.

"In addition to the already established Register of Appointed Officials in KS, the Public Procurement Register, and the established list of employment supervisors in the public sector, we are also working on establishing a database of grant funds allocated from the KS budget, concessions granted, inspections carried out, and a register of compensation for appointed officials," stated Kafedžić, emphasizing that this would not have been possible without the continuous assistance and support of the OSCE Mission in BiH.

As partners in this project since 2017, the OSCE has strongly supported all efforts in the fight against pervasive corruption.

"We will continue to support this and all new innovative initiatives in the fight against corruption. Once again, we highlight Sarajevo Canton as an example of good practice in this regard, and the Office as a professional and responsible partner in these projects," stated OSCE Ambassador to BiH Bruce Berton, who also signed a Memorandum on further cooperation between the OSCE and this Office today.

According to the Speaker of the KS Assembly, Elmedin Konaković, these are celebratory days for Sarajevo Canton. With the recently adopted Law on Reporting Property of Elected Officials and today's launch of another public register, this Government and Assembly are bringing fundamental changes to political operations.

"With the change of generations come new profiles of politicians, more agile, dynamic, and transparent. This Government has achieved more in the past four months than all previous governments combined, which is why it is the best KS Government to date," emphasized Speaker Konaković.

Currently, the register includes 17,000 individuals employed in the public sector, with some entries still in progress, and several thousand more yet to be entered. The Office possesses modern, state-of-the-art analytical software created for corruption detection, operating on its own infrastructure platform.
