KS Government Gives Green Light to Conceptual Project for Vertical Transport - Bjelašnica Cable Car

The Sarajevo Canton Government today gave the green light to the conceptual project for the construction of new vertical transport - a cable car on Bjelašnica, which means that efforts will be made in the coming year to secure favorable loan funds estimated at around 16 million KM and to commence its implementation, reports the Patria News Agency.

On the route of the current triple chairlift, according to the conceptual project developed by IPSA for ZOI '84, a six-seater chairlift would be built, which would significantly increase the capacity and speed of tourist transport, as foreseen in the long-term development strategy of the Bjelašnica ski center.

The construction of the six-seater chairlift involves the renovation of vertical transport on Bjelašnica at Babin Do to the intermediate station, which is a distance of 600 meters. The capacity of the cable car is 2,500 people per hour, and with the planned speed, the ride from the starting station to the exit point would take about seven minutes.

As envisioned by the project, construction would be carried out according to the latest technical and technological solutions that offer maximum safety to users, and in addition to aesthetic integration into the environment, all European ecological standards would be met.

The construction of new vertical transport would enable an improved winter and ski season offer, the development of a winter sports and recreation center to a level that meets world competition standards, and an increase in the sporting significance and tourist offer of the Sarajevo Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, as well as for the needs of EYOF 2019.
