Government of Sarajevo Canton to finance renovation of church premises in Pofalići

Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković and ministers of interior affairs and spatial planning, construction and environmental protection Vedran Mulabdić and Čedomir Lukić visited this morning the Orthodox Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Pofalići and, accompanied by the parish priest of Dolac, Čedomir Đelmo, inspected the room that was destroyed in a fire on Sunday morning.

Konaković expressed readiness and offered the parish priest Đelmo that the renovation of the resulting material damage and reconstruction of this part of the building be financed by the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

- The Government will, after assessing the damage, provide the necessary financial assistance for the renovation of this part of the building, in order to create all the necessary conditions for the undisturbed performance of religious rites as soon as possible - emphasized Prime Minister Konaković.

Parish priest Đelmo thanked the Prime Minister and ministers for the concrete proposal for assistance, as well as for the visit to this place of worship.

The Prime Minister and ministers were also interested in whether the daily religious activities in the Church had been disrupted by these unfortunate events.

- Yesterday's service could not be held due to the unpleasant smell that dominated the building, but we continue with our other activities without interruption - said the parish priest Đelmo.

Minister Mulabdić announced the swift conclusion of the investigation, as police officers efficiently, quickly and professionally carried out all necessary investigative actions, with which the parish priest Đelmo agreed.
