KS Government: 100 unemployed individuals to receive KM 17,800 each to start businesses

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Government adopted the proposed lists of applicants for three employment programs in 2025 at today's session.

The proposed lists of applicants for the self-employment program "From Idea to Entrepreneur", the lists of employers who meet the conditions for participation in the Employment Program in communal economy, social protection, culture and fair events, and the lists of employers/unemployed persons for the employment program for families of martyrs and veterans, minor demobilized veterans, war veterans with disabilities and their family members were adopted.

These programs, implemented through the KS Employment Service based on previously conducted public calls, aim to reduce unemployment and improve the structure of employment in KS.

The self-employment program "From Idea to Entrepreneur" provides non-refundable funds of KM 17,800 per beneficiary to start an independent activity. It is planned for 100 unemployed persons from the Employment Service registry to become self-employed. The goal is to encourage unemployed persons to become entrepreneurs, with the obligation to operate for at least one year.

The Employment Program in communal economy, social protection, culture and fair events supports the employment of hard-to-employ categories of unemployed persons for a period of up to six months. Employers participating in the program will receive a refund of KM 1,500 per month per newly employed person for salaries and contributions. The program covers environmental improvement, forestry, infrastructure construction and renovation, social protection, and culture, tourism, and fair events.

The employment program for families of martyrs, veteran families, minor demobilized veterans, and disabled war veterans aims to ensure long-term employment for members of the mentioned categories. This program envisages that unemployed persons pick up a "job voucher" at the Employment Service or online, find an employer who meets the program's conditions, and submit the voucher for further processing. Employers will sign employment contracts with these persons for a minimum of 36 months, and the Service will refund them KM 1,000 per month per newly employed person for 24 months for salaries and contributions.
