Government of Sarajevo Canton: Fines for water “thieves” up to 30,000 KM

In order to stop the trend of non-compliance with the provisions of the Law on Communal Activities and thus prevent a large number of violations being committed, the Government of Sarajevo Canton today established a Proposal for amendments to the Law on Communal Activities in the part that deals with penal provisions for violators of this Law, reports the Patria news agency.

Instead of the previous fine of 3,000 KM to 8,000 KM, the proposed fines now range from 10,000 KM to 30,000 KM for a violation committed by a legal entity as well as a user of communal services, and specifically if they make an unauthorized connection to communal infrastructure, if they intervene without authorization on communal infrastructure,

if they use communal services without authorization, if their actions prevent the uninterrupted use of communal services in a building, if they prevent an authorized representative of the communal service provider from entering to inspect common and internal installations, if they damage or destroy fixed assets, plants and other communal equipment, if they prevent an authorized person from entering to inspect common and internal installations.

The amendments to the Law also foresee further changes in the part concerning penal policy, and representatives in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton will also declare themselves on them, it was announced from the Government of Sarajevo Canton.
