Government of Sarajevo Canton adopts proposal to increase salaries of healthcare workers by 10%

(Patria) - At today's extraordinary session, the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted the proposal to increase the salaries of healthcare workers by an additional 10%. This measure represents a continuation of activities to strengthen the healthcare system and improve working conditions in one of the key areas.

We remind you that in September 2024, during the validity of the current collective agreement, the hourly rate was increased from 3.07 to 3.40 KM, which resulted in a 10.7% salary increase. With today's decision by the KS Government, the base rate has been further increased by another 10%, bringing the total salary increase under the new collective agreement to 20.7%.

After the Government session, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, stated that healthcare workers are the backbone of our society and deserve dignified working conditions.

"Today's increase in the hourly rate is another confirmation of our commitment to building a stable, functional, and fair healthcare system for all citizens in our canton," emphasized Prime Minister Uk.

The Minister of Health of KS, Enis Hasanović, stressed that improving the working conditions of healthcare workers is a key prerequisite for strengthening healthcare and raising the level of services provided to citizens.

"The salary increase is only one part of the reforms we are implementing. During the past year, we abolished co-payments for healthcare services, resolved waiting lists for all cancer patients, and ensured the availability of a new, expanded list of medicines that includes over 700 drug forms. We consider today's salary increase a fair offer compared to all other sectors within the KS Government," stated Minister Hasanović.
