Sarajevo Canton Government Will Not Allow Citizens to Be Left Without Heating

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Government will not allow citizens to be left without heating, despite political pressure from the federal level, is the main message from the meeting of members of the KS Government with the leaders of “Sarajevogas” and “Toplane” which is still ongoing. 

In the last three days, 215,000 cubic meters less gas has been delivered to the Sarajevo Canton compared to the guaranteed quantities. 

As stated at the meeting, the shortage occurred due to the unforeseen withdrawal of 150,000 cubic meters of gas by “Arcelor Mittal”, in the name of alleged repairs. 

“Energoinvest” is currently demanding that the citizens of Sarajevo Canton pay the market price for gas for additional quantities, which is four times higher than the contracted price, while “Arcelor Mittal” pays for additional quantities at lower, previously contracted prices. The KS Government will not allow citizens to bear this burden alone. 

Currently, 70 percent of the boiler rooms in Sarajevo are operating on alternative fuels, due to reduced gas quantities.
