FBiH Government to decide on (non)appointment of Dragan Lukač on Thursday

The deadline for the FBiH Government to confirm the appointment of Dragan Lukač as Director of the Federal Police Administration expires next week, but it is already certain that this will not happen, writes the Patria News Agency.

The proposal for Lukač's appointment arrived at the FBiH Government on November 28, but the Government has not yet decided on it. The mentioned proposal has been considered from a legal perspective all this time, given the complications that accompanied it, in terms of changes in the law.

As a reminder, the competition for selection and appointment was opened on October 1 under the then-valid law, and before it was closed, the new Law on Internal Affairs of FBiH came into force. The competition was conducted according to the law that was in force at the time of its publication, so the Independent Board proposed only one candidate.

According to the valid law, the Independent Board sends three most successful candidates to the Government for appointment, from whom the Government chooses one. The valid law also prevents candidates who are eligible for retirement during their term from applying.

Also, what bothered the FBiH Government were many stories about Lukač's illegal appointment and the fact that some claim he erased his work history.

Lukač has not been a police officer since December 7, as his term has expired, but he is freely using all authorities and a company car, as well as MTS equipment, which could cost him new criminal charges.

However, as Patria learns from sources close to the FBiH Government, members of the Independent Board, led by Sead Selman, are expected to appear at Thursday's session, and information from the FBiH Ministry of Internal Affairs will also be on the table, and controversial issues will be discussed.
