FBiH Government Urges Federal Parliament to Urgently Consider the Draft Law on Forests

MOSTAR, (Patria) - The Federal Government adopted the information from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry on forest management in the Federation of BiH in 2017 and forest management plans for 2018.

With the aim of overcoming the difficult situation in the forestry sector due to the lack of a law on forests in the FBiH, the FBiH Government sent an urgent request to the Parliament of the Federation of BiH to urgently consider the Draft Law on Forests, which was adopted at its 110th session on July 7, 2017, and submitted to the parliamentary procedure.

- Users of state forests are obliged to undertake all necessary activities aimed at executing the works planned by the annual implementation plan of forest management bases. The cantonal forest administrations have been instructed to intensively monitor the implementation of forest management bases and undertake activities within their powers, as well as to regularly report to the Federal Forest Administration.

- The Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs is tasked with intensifying control over the implementation of forest management bases, in cooperation with cantonal inspectorates and cantonal forest administrations, and through preventive and repressive measures, within its competencies, to ensure comprehensive and complete implementation of all works planned by these bases, including planned cuts evenly across all management classes of forests, as defined by the applicable regulations in the forestry sector.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry will forward this information and the conclusions of the Government of the Federation of BiH to the cantonal governments, cantonal ministries, cantonal forest administrations, and forest management companies. The conclusions will also be submitted to the Parliament of the FBiH.
