FBiH Government to Discuss Electricity Prices and Gas Sector Tomorrow, New Prices for Citizens in Preparation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić at today's press conference dedicated to the current situation with gas supply confirmed that the malfunction in Bulgaria has been resolved and that gas has started flowing towards Serbia, i.e., Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

"There was a malfunction in Bulgaria that could not be resolved quickly. Ten minutes ago, I received information from the Bulgarian minister and the minister from Serbia that the malfunction has been fixed. Gas has started moving towards Serbia, i.e., Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the meantime, we sought an alternative to keep the gas system in the FBiH operational, to prevent it from collapsing. Certain quantities of gas were agreed upon," said Džindić.

He announced that a thematic session of the FBiH Government will be held tomorrow, where Block 7 and the price of electricity will be discussed, and the second part will relate to the current situation with the gas sector, with conclusions to be proposed. One of the conclusions is that Energoinvest and BH Gas should propose a location and solution for gas storage.

Energoinvest Director Bisera Hadžialjević maintained her claim that switching to the TurkStream pipeline resulted in savings of up to 25 percent, but it is evident that gas has significantly increased in price on the global market this year, and they can no longer cope with the price, which has risen by 71.8 percent.

She added that talks are underway regarding the price of gas for citizens.

Regarding the contract with the Hungarians, which has not been terminated, but BH-Gas has not paid the last few invoices, Hadžialjević claims that the Hungarians have still not initiated the arbitration process. 

"As for the Hungarians, they announced arbitration, but the process has not yet been initiated. The Hungarian transporter sent us a request for a new meeting to find a solution outside of arbitration and court proceedings. Energoinvest is initiating a process to recover payment for what the previous management paid," said Hadžialjević.
