FBiH Government Makes Capacities Available for Commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić attended a meeting of the Organizational Committee for the Commemoration of July 11, the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the "United Nations Safe Zone" Srebrenica, held at the headquarters of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo.

The meeting was attended by FBiH Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar, and FBiH Minister for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War Nedžad Lokmić.

Preparations for the commemoration of this anniversary were discussed, for which the FBiH Government had previously approved funds in the amount of 500,000 KM, while an additional 50,000 KM was allocated at the last Government session for direct support of the Organizational Committee's program activities.

Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized that his attendance at part of today's meeting was precisely to be informed about the realization and preparations for the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, as well as what else is necessary for the Government to assist the Organizational Committee. He stressed that all logistical capacities of the FBiH Government have been made available, and added that the Government, with its relevant ministries, will do everything within its competencies and capabilities to contribute to a dignified commemoration.

President of the Organizational Committee Hamdija Fejzić expressed gratitude to the FBiH Government and Prime Minister Nikšić for their continuous support, emphasizing that without it, the realization of activities on the planned scale would not have been possible. He informed that all activities are in the final stages, including expanding the capacity for receiving buses with visitors, as well as erecting flagpoles with 83 flags of UN member states that supported the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica, as a sign of gratitude to those countries. It was also highlighted that all preparations for this year's Peace March have been completed, and transportation and medical teams have been secured, as well as that all resources of the FBiH Administration of Civil Protection have been made available.

Minister Dizdar reminded that, in addition to the support through the FBiH Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees program of 500,000 KM, an additional 650,000 KM for infrastructure works has been secured from the FBiH Budget and, upon the instruction of the FBiH Prime Minister. He emphasized that all works on the route of the Peace March from Nezuk to Potočari have been completed to ensure a safe passage for this year's participants. He recalled that last year a helipad was built within the Srebrenica Memorial Center, as well as other facilities.

Minister Lokmić also expressed full support for the Organizational Committee, stating that the FBiH Ministry for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War, in addition to the regular financial support needed for projects in the Srebrenica region, has also made volunteers and accommodation facilities available that can be used during the anniversary commemoration.

It was also conveyed from the meeting that the FBiH Government, as before, will remain fully committed to supporting all activities aimed at preserving the memory, truth, and dignity of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
