(Patria) - The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today, at a telephone session, at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Trade, adopted a Decision prescribing a measure of direct price control by determining the highest level of retail sales price of wood pellets in the territory of the Federation of BiH. In accordance with this decision, the highest retail sales price of pellets cannot exceed 480 KM plus VAT per ton in all packaging.
This decision applies until December 1, 2025.
Wood pellets are a natural energy source, i.e., a renewable biofuel, produced from biomass (crushed wood, sawdust, shavings), cylindrical in shape with a diameter of 6 mm or 8 mm (+/-1) and a length of 3.15 mm to 40 mm, with a moisture content below 10 percent, which allows for very high combustion efficiency.
The federal and cantonal market inspectorates are tasked with the implementation and supervision of this decision. The decision enters into force on the day it is adopted and will be published in the Official Gazette of the FBiH.
As the proposer explained, the reason for prescribing this measure is the prevention and suppression of unrealistic price setting and potential unfair behavior by individual producers or traders of pellets, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring the orderly supply of the market.
Also, the proposer of the decision explained that it was necessary to prescribe a measure of direct price control by determining the highest price level for pellets, which is temporary in nature, with the aim of timely intervention in the market of the Federation of BiH and preventing speculative and irresponsible behavior of all participants in the pellet supply chain.
