FBiH Government does not abandon the contested Regulation: Electricity Law again before FBiH Parliament representatives

Representatives of the FBiH Parliament will again discuss the proposal for amendments to the Electricity Law under urgent procedure today, after this proposal did not receive the necessary number of votes at the last session of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Ministers from the SDA and HDZ BiH earlier, by outvoting DF ministers in the FBiH Government, adopted a Regulation defining that the FBiH Government appoints top officials in companies owned by the FBiH. However, that Regulation was in conflict with the Electricity Law, which led to DF leaving the ruling coalition, and the entire case ended up before the Constitutional Court of FBiH.

Before the adoption of the Regulation, appointments in public companies were made by the competent federal ministries.

The ruling coalition of SDA and HDZ BiH, which has recently been joined by SBB, is now trying to adapt this Law to the Regulation through amendments to the Electricity Law, in order to make their idea that the Government decides on the appointments of top officials in public companies legal, as this is currently not the case. The opposition warns that it is unacceptable for a higher legal act to be adapted to a lower legal act, but the ruling parties do not abandon the Regulation.

Although at the last session the Government's proposal for amendments to the Electricity Law received the necessary number of votes in the House of Representatives, it did not pass the House of Peoples. The Government, with certain changes, has now resubmitted the proposal for amendments to the Electricity Law to the House of Representatives, writes Patria.
