FBiH Government Allocated 4.3 Million BAM to Improve Medical Care for COVID-19 Patients

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted a Decision on the transfer of procured fixed assets within the “Emergency COVID-19 Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina” to end users in the Federation of BiH. The Decision approves the transfer of fixed assets for public health institutes, hospitals, health centers, and social welfare institutions, procured as part of the implementation of this project.

The total value of the procured and delivered equipment amounts to 4,306,462 BAM, and it has been distributed to 44 institutions in FBiH, including 11 public health institutes, 16 cantonal and general hospitals, three clinical centers, four health centers, and 10 social welfare institutions.

The Federal Ministry of Health is tasked with drafting a contract on the transfer of fixed assets with the end users, in accordance with the Instruction establishing the methodology for the transfer of procured fixed assets and completed works to end users and the submission of a final project completion report, while end users are to record the allocated fixed assets in their books, in line with accounting regulations in FBiH.

The project is being implemented by the federal ministries of health, and labor and social policy, and is financed through credit funds from the World Bank based on an Agreement concluded between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Project funds financed the procurement of fixed assets for the needs of end users with the aim of strengthening the health system's preparedness, improving the quality of medical care provided to COVID-19 patients, and minimizing risks for healthcare staff and patients. With the consent of the FBiH Government and the World Bank, a contract was signed with UNDP, which was engaged to carry out the procurement.
