(Patria) - At the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the FBiH Government today adopted a conclusion on the need for urgent remediation of environmental and communal infrastructure in affected municipalities and cities in FBiH after the floods.
The statement from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism states that this conclusion tasks the FBiH Environmental Protection Fund with providing emergency financial resources in the amount of 2,000,000 KM for the purpose of assisting in the implementation of urgent environmental and communal infrastructure remediation measures in the municipalities of Jablanica, Fojnica, Kreševo, and Kiseljak, and the cities of Konjic and Mostar, by concluding separate agreements with individual municipalities and cities, based on the principle of municipal solidarity, and after reviewing individual requests and documentation for the purpose of implementing the said activities.
The Ministry reminds that last month, the Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism, Nasiha Pozder, held a meeting with the mayors and heads of the affected areas, so that each could, within their jurisdiction, react to the most important and priority areas requiring remediation.
The meeting was also attended by the Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Finance Toni Kraljević, Federal Minister of Displaced Persons and Refugees Nerin Dizdar, and Director of the Environmental Protection Fund Slađan Bevanda.
The adopted conclusion is a continuation of the initiative launched by Minister Pozder and Director Bevada towards local communities.
- For the implementation of support from the conclusion adopted by the Government, it is important that Jablanica, Fojnica, Kreševo, Kiseljak, Konjic, and Mostar ensure the implementation of the said urgent measures, and submit the necessary documentation to the Fund, as well as regular reports on the implementation of the measures.
We also pointed out at the meeting the need to prepare damage assessments; most municipalities have already done so, so that this money can be directed where local communities recognize priorities.
This conclusion relates to environmental remediation, while the remediation of damage to houses and social infrastructure is handled by other competent ministries and institutions.
We previously reacted with 200,000 KM which we transferred for the removal of floating waste, so our support for environmental remediation will not be lacking, and together with the Environmental Protection Fund and local communities, we will support what is most needed - said Minister Pozder.
